🔹 Before the dark days of 2020, a concept that was not utilised very often was remote working.

Understandably. There haven’t been many occasions in human civilisation where the necessity to not leave the house for work also coincides with the ability and technology to make working anywhere other than the office feasible. Not that it was without its teething issues – we all recall the poor-quality endless Zoom calls, which these days are much better adjusted.

🔍 Recent research suggests that people have become used to remote working. It’s estimated that over 50% of people that regularly work from home (WFH) would be likely to look for another job if forced to return to the office full time.

This shift would indicate it may be a good idea to:
✔️ Look at formalising hybrid models
✔️ Invest in remote collaboration tools
✔️ Coordinate in-office days to maximise engagement
💡 Of course, the main benefit of remote working is the flexibility it affords your workers.

One viewpoint is that people are generally more productive when given the trust of working solo from home, and recent research backs up this theory.

📍 Both Abbey and I (Leo) do this for the vast majority of our Jupps careers, and I know that this benefits both of us hugely. Being given the time and money that we can save by not commuting to an office every day is more than just figures (which we know all about at Jupps of course!).

🙌 There are, of course, some potential drawbacks. It cannot be underestimated that working life can be made easier by socialising with colleagues – and remote working severely reduces that.

That is why (even though we have created a “remote office environment” by being on a background video call with each other every day), we at Jupps make a point of working together in the office regularly, just to really feel that collaboration of working in tandem with one another.

🔄 Ultimately, I think most businesses and people agree that employees and businesses flourish when trust and balance is found.

💬 What do you think?
Do you enable the possibility of remote working for your employees?
